Lights, camera, action... As I step on stage the crowd roars. It sounded like waves crashing up against rocks. All I can see is lights and flashing cameras. Screams calling my name. As I slowly walk over to centre stage where a microphone is awaiting me. Everyone goes silent. Nothing. Just the slight strum of a guitar, waiting to harmonize with a voice, with a poem, with feelings that would have otherwise been left un-said. I open my lips, allowing my soul to be poured out. A weight lifting off my shoulders. A small crystal tear slides down my face escaping my chocolate brown eyes falling, leaving a splattered mark on my dress. "Ariana. Ari...?" Everything seemed to freeze. A blinding light begins to overwhelm the scene. It slowly swallows up my dreams. Leaving them for my memory.
"Oh, hey Val. Done swimming?" I sleepily said yawning. Valerie was my older sister. I was 16. We lived with our parents in a small town in Georgia. Where we lived was only a 30 minute walk or a 10 minute bike/long board ride to a little beach near a forested area. With trees taller than houses. and flowers everywhere. A sunset like you'e never seen with the most beautiful colours. Almost like paradise. My school was nice. Only a 15 minute car ride from my house. Easy for me considering Daddy bought me my own little car last month for my birthday! I've always wanted to be famous. Dancer, singer, I didn't care. I just wanted to be something great. A role model. I'm a huge day dreamer. I can't help myself. Especially if I'm at he ocean or in the woods. I can be anything. I love getting lost in thought. At my school I'm like, THE most popular girl. I don't know why. but I am, and I'm not complaining! My sister always says she doesn't like the way I've been changing because of the kids I hang out with. But what does she know?! I haven't changed at all. Don't get me wrong, I love Valerie, she's just a little... bossy.
"Come on! I'll race you to the tree house!" She called. We grabbed our long boards and headed off down the trail towards our little tree house in the woods. "HA! I beat you again Ari! You're so slow!" "SHUT-UP Val! I snapped back causing her to laugh at me. Our tree house was bigger because it was in between three trees. We built it a few years ago with my Dad. We wrote songs up here, I'd do my homework here. It was our safe house for only us. We still had a few dolls here from when we were younger. About 2 hours later Valerie snapped me out of my thoughts. "We should go. Mum is making our favourite and she said dinner would be ready by 8:00 and it's already 7:30."
"Hey mum! Hey Dad! We're home!" Mum greeted us with kisses as the smell of food captured my attention. Dad draped his arm over my shoulders leading us to the dinner table that had already been set. It was a Sunday evening so tomorrow was school. after dinner and a little TV I headed up to bed. "Love you Val. goodnight!" I called from the staircase. "Goodnight angel!" she called back. i loed it when she called me that...
